This Week's Updates -------------------------- Opt-In System Based on everyone's feedback, we will be removing all "Veil of Evasion" spells and replacing it with a new spell, called "Wave of Conflict". * You are only able to cast "Wave of Conflict" if an Estoc Trial war starts within the next 24 hours * If an Estoc Trial war does start within the next 24 hours, then you will have opted in for that war * You may still remove yourself from the war by leaving the clan. However, if you re-join the clan before match-making begins, you will be part of the war. You cannot otherwise un-cast or remove yourself from the war. This spell will be available by Tuesday, 12am PST (Midnight). ***Note for Clan Leaders*** * When you sign up for an Estoc Trial, we will inform you on the # of players who have opted in for that war * If your clan members affect the qualified number of participants in any way (leaving the clan, casting Wave of Conflict etc), and that number exceeds or falls below the requirements for the event, the clan will be disqualified. It will be up to you to manage your members and ensure that your clan meets the size requirements at all times. Exploring the possibility of No Matches Found Looking at the matchups this weekend, we were pretty satisfied with the results. However, there were still a few matchups that were not up to our satisfaction. For example: Clan A - 100 Strength (using a simplified system here) Clan B - 100 Strength Clan C - 100 Strength Clan D - 50 Strength Clan E - 40 Strength Given our algorithm, or any algorithm, we would have to match Clan C with Clan D. This is not a good experience for all players involved. We are proposing a new system where, in the cases of extreme mismatches, we will remove the clan we are trying to match from the matchup process. For the clans that are removed, all participating members will have their Estoc Edges extended by 2 weeks, with no change in levels In the above example, Clan C would be removed. We will still try to find a match for Clan D (Which would be Clan E). The downside for us is that we will need to monitor this process to ensure that players are not abusing this system and creating clans which generate no matches. We would have to reserve the right to remove the edge from all members who try to exploit the system. Please let us know how you feel about having this option by participating in the poll. Estoc Trial Season 1! An update for this. Since we are still finalizing the opt-in process, and also the new "No Match Found" algorithm, we will have to push back the start date for Season 1. Below are the details released so far: * Season 1 will run for about 12 weeks * It will end with an All Star War, where the best players who have participated will be eligible for * We will introduce the concept of 2 hour wars * For the 4 hour wars, we will increase the payouts * We will have rewards for regular season participation, and all star war participation. Red Paladin Equipment Onto the last few pieces! One more to be released this week, on Friday. A: We try our best to create the best possible matchups, taking into account everyone that signs up. Due to the # of signups we have, it's impossible to create a perfect matchup for everyone. We are looking into some possible solutions for this, one of which is to adjust the minimum and maximum clan sizes. Q: The lag is horrible and it is causing us to lose the war! A: This is a complex issue, and hopefully this explanation will put to rest some of the questions that have been brought up. A common situation where a delay in processing actions happens when one player receives many incoming actions. The player that is receiving this action will most likely experience the "spinner" for several seconds when they try to do an action themselves. At the end of this, they will receive a notice that says that they were knocked out. This is a point of frustration for many as they feel that if the spinner had not come up, they would not be knocked out. While our servers may take a few seconds to resolve all of the actions (it can be easily over 20 at once), we do record when we receive each action and the action that was triggered first will receive the Knock Out. Chances are, if you had 9 incoming actions and you tried to attack, you chances of being the first action is ~10%. To reiterate, while it may take our servers some time to determine the results, the results are fair and the first action that was performed will go through. Now, we are doing what we can to reduce the amount of waiting time players experience, and have been upgrading our hardware to accommodate for the number of actions that occur during Estoc Trials. Q: Will the war times change week to week? A: We will continue to examine and improve the wartimes, offering a larger variety of times and size restrictions to best suit our players. Next Week? -------------------------- * Have something you want to talk about? Reply to this thread and we may add it to next week's discussions!
Couldn't alot of statless alts get 4 or 5 edge then just make a 30 member clan to do estoc to increase the edge length? Since in thoery, no one would match up with them so, bam, extra two weeks edge for small players
Yikes so if we opt in and an emergency comes up, we have to leave clan and lose a level of ee, as opposed to a last second veil?
I vote no because bacon makes a fair point. People who do that will abuse the estoc or if you don't have it yet you have to wait till next war.
The best way to have a good matchup is to have same number of player. If clan A has 38 ppl and clan B has 42 ppl, at matchup the system should " Auto Veil " 4 players from clan B and give this 4 player 30 miths as compensation. That way every body happy
Opt in spell is what everyone's been asking for! Props to you for listening to feedback. Any rough requirements for getting into the ASW? Because I'd imagine its going to be all hlbc players, which I don't have a problem with, just wondering.
