  1. Based on the feedback we received, we have decided to create a new forum moderator role. In an effort to keep our forums clean and more user friendly. Players who devote more of their time promoting and managing the forums will be given different responsibilities then regular in game moderators. That being said I am happy to introduce and also welcome back our first forum moderator: Moose

We will also be creating more forum moderators from our existing pool of moderators in the near future.

Update: Drgnblade will also be joining the newly created forum moderator role.
Update: Also welcome Delphin who will be joining the new forum moderators.

    -------------------------------------------
    Clarification Update
    -------------------------------------------

As you have all seen there’s been a bit of confusion and a little concern over our new Forum Moderator position.

Firstly, let us re-emphasize the purpose of this new position.
It is a trial run, for us to see if having moderators focused specifically on the forums will help improve the quality of the forums and the community as a whole. Because this is a test, we may change certain aspects of the position as we deem necessary.

We hope that by having a few mods focus solely on the forums, we can have them make a greater impact than if they were splitting their efforts between the forums and the game.

We also wished to create a more obvious difference in silences in the forums vs in game.
If a silence is necessary for a post in the forums, the silence is now applied in the forums only, you will not be silenced for it in game.

What happens in the forums stays in the forums, what happens in game, stays in game.

All of our moderators are considered a part of the KAW Mod Team. Forum mods and Game mods are considered equals and work together to cover all aspects of the game, now with a greater focus on their respective areas.

    What forums mods can do:
    - ban players from the forums for 24 hours
    - edit, merge, delete and move threads as usual

    What game mods can do:
    - silence players in game
    - edit, merge, delete and move threads as usual

    How to tell them apart:

Forum mods have an orange name in the game and in the forums.
Game mods have a green name in game and in the forums.

    Forum Mods:
    Drgnblade
    Moose
    Delphin

    Game Mods:
    Logical
    Meisha
    Wabbsy
    Babycakes
    CanadianGal
    Eagle
    Petal
    Melissa

Forum Mod applications : we are not currently accepting applications specifically for forum moderators as this position may discontinue if we feel it is not serving the community.

    -------------------------------------------
    Recruitment Update
    -------------------------------------------

Thank you for all of the feedback about our new Forum Moderator position! Many of you have taken the opportunity to email us about your concerns and opportunities to fill the new position.
We’d like to clarify, we are not currently looking to fill any positions as Moderators roles within the forums, the forum moderator position is a beta program based on the needs of the community. This new position will allow in game moderators more activity in game and Forum moderators the ability to focus on the forums. We have chosen our forum moderators based on their activity on the forums and their in game knowledge.

    About the Position:

We understand some people may be confused, to clarify our earlier post, moderators have the ability to ban players from the forums for 24 hours. Any permanent bans, or extended bans will still be placed by developers and the support staff. Any player who is currently forum banned, can still view the forums via http://www.kingdomsatwar.com/ on PC or device, attempting to log in via in game method will show a white screen.

Thank you again for all your responses, we appreciate the feedback on our new position, we’re excited to welcome Delphin and Drgnblade as well as welcome back Moose into his new position.

    Forum Mods - Normal Mods.

I've seen many in the thread ask the same questions - so here is a quick FAQ.

    What is a forum mod?

    • A forum mod is selected by the developers - their main job is to serve the forum community, keep it clean and tidy and allow players to be able to communicate freely and easily. They are identified by a light orange name, as opposed to the normal moderators green name tag.

They were introduced today 02/05/2013 or 06/02/2013 - Moose being the first added to the team.

How do you become a forum moderator?

    • Becoming a forum mod is similar to the same process of becoming a normal mod, just the difference being your main point of activity is on the forums. Being helpful, talking to other players, assisting devs and moderators to keep forums clean, reporting and just being yourself are definetly not all but some of the main points involved with the role.

    What are the requirements?

    • The developers have not yet detailed whether the same age requirements, etc. are involved with the job.
However, seeing as forum moderators have the same (more) powers than an average moderator, I could not see why a similar sort of path would not be taken with this role.
Then there are the usual factors such as.

    • Time zone
      Activity
      Reputation
      Past silences/bans
      Time played
Your ability to work with the community.

What can forum moderators do that a usual moderator can not?
    • A forum moderator, obviously is centered around providing you, forumers with the best quality forums. This means, that they have tools that normal mods don't that are optimised for foruming. From what has already been detailed these tools are the same/similar to the tools that are used by the developer's forum accounts (kaw_admin, kaw_creative).

Forum moderators still can silence players in game, like are normal moderator could but this is used more rarely, as this is not what they are centered around doing.
