Chaos (EE) Wars - Scheduling - Modifications Needed!

Discussion in 'Ideas + Feature Requests' started by -Mrkev-, Jun 16, 2015.

  1. Dear friends (and strangers and others), dear Apes and Devs:

I for one think that the EE wars are a key aspect of KAW (in terms of gameplay) and frankly the only challenging part of this game at the moment. With S5 still (apparently) in the pre-planning stages, per the Dev's most recent pronouncement, these so-called Chaos Wars are what we've got to work with for yet some time to come.

I write this thread to raise again the issue of EE war scheduling. For months now the EE wars have been on a fixed schedule with the same time slots each week as well as the same time slots each day. While I agree that a fixed and predictable weekly schedule is appropriate, I respectfully suggest that the limited number of time slots being repeated each and every day of the week has a material negative adverse impact on EE war participation.

By way of example, please allow me to share with you my frustration in my efforts to organize EE rosters. The current times are simply poor for a significant number of players and since the times are the same each day then these many players can rarely war.

For the sake of argument, let's postulate that doing an EE war well requires the investment of two full hours (the hour before for prep and the hour of the war itself). Let's take as an example the European time zone. What are the current options?

    * 4:00 am (time commitment 3:00 am to 5:00 am): Many KAW players are willing to stay up late or get up early; however, this is really the middle of the night, for most Euro players, not a chance.

    * 8:00 am (time commitment 7:00 am to 9:00 am): Getting ready and going to work, taking kids to school, etc., for most Euro players, not a chance.

    * 5:00 pm (time commitment 16:00 - 18:00): End of the day rush at work, commute, etc., for most Euro players, not a chance.

    * 10:00 pm (time commitment 21:00 - 23:00): The best time for Europe; however falls square in the middle of evening family time and evening events, often difficult for many Euro players.

What is my point? Simply this: Euro players (to continue with my example) never have a daytime slot for EE (between 10:00 and 16:00, e.g. EE war for lunch) and never have a late evening slot for EE (I fondly remember the wars that started at midnight or so).

What is my suggestion? Simply this: War times should be staggered among the individual days of the week so that different folks with different schedules and in different time zone have a broader choice of time slots for EE wars.

Thank you for your kind consideration of the foregoing suggestion and may the Gods of plunder smile upon all of you.

  2. Support... With the current timetable, i can hardly war.

  3. The dev will not listen. They only care what brings them most $$$$

Probably they are planning another money making event now.

  4. It's also bad for Asian/Aussies. Aussies have nothing from 4pm until 1 am.

The problem is this: to have those wars someone at ATA has to work nights Vancouver time. They are just too lazy to do that.

  5. Get rid of round wars all together. Cut the number of primals in half. Add one more indy per day. You can then schedule wars at regular intervals covering all the timezones and making wars accessible to the majority of the community.

  6. I don't see why they would have to. They can run these wars automatically. There's wars in the middle of the night already in Vancouver tz.

  7. No there isn't. The last war ends at midnight Vancouver time and the next one is not until 8 am Vancouver time. Their sleep time is EE war free ATM.

  8. Ah I stand corrected, could of swore I seen later ones on schedule. Still i don't see why they can't be auto run without someone there physically working.

  9. I say wow ... or probably I'm just nuts ... but I wonder if it doesn't say something about the KAW life and universe and everything, that this here (I think) thoughtful and relevant thread is rapidly descending down the ladder of active topics into forum oblivion, while the #1 thread in active topics at present asks the prescient question, whether farts can smell good (or something along those lines). Sigh.

  10. Wars should be run back to back with 1 hour gap. That would not only appease all time zones but also create much more opportunities to war for the war addicts like myself, and more $ in xtals for the greedy apes.

    Everyone wins.

  11. Support! im Aus and i can practically only war on the weekend unless i stay up till 1:30 to waste an hour and xtal in indi, if it was better tz i would

  12. They still have normal system wars? Set some of them up

  13. Except there aren't enough active players interested in war to sustain that kind of schedule. It would be nice if that were feasible, but it isn't. The problem with more wars is that it thins out those participating with each one added.

  14. Yes there are. During the times where there is low activity just make it an indi war timeslot. Indi wars always have good turnouts.

  15. You could be right, I doubt it though. Indi wars have nice turn out because the number of wars is so limited, in my opinion. Adding a two to three wars a day would be fine. Just think the amount you're proposing would be overkill.

  16. Your example is just dumb, if you are going to work and be with your family there is no time for u to war no matter when they put the war time unless it is on the weekends. War times 2 and 3 seem pretty optimal for most Europeans, if they put the times later that will just screw over everyone else too, times need to be earlier. Also the times aren't any better for Americans, War time 1 from 8-10 is when most are starting work, war time 2 from 2-4 is when most are finishing work or driving home, war time 3 is dinner time/family time, and war 4 is from 12-2am. This is all central time so it is even worse for other American time zones

  17. Never going to be good for everyone. We simply need more timeslots.

  18. Dear 3xxpxx (or however you wish to be addressed),

my example is not dumb. To the contrary, you have very nicely demonstrated how my example is illustrative of the problem that my suggestion seeks to solve. The same times each day tend to be bad for the same people each day no matter the time zone. Hence and therefore, there should be some variety in the time slots between the individual days of the week.

    As Winnetou might say, howgh!

  19. If I understand you correctly, no. Same war types at same times allows people to schedule accordingly. Just add more timeslots.

  20. Or....
    Wars can go longer.
    48 hours
    Or maybe 5 day wars.
That gives you many chances to be active no matter what time zone you live in.
    And is the most fair
The ONLY problem is that the clan with the less Real life will do well.
Every time zone you can make an argument has no good war times, because if you have a life, giving up two hours of it is inconvenient.
