  1. The Sprawling Oasis

The Desert, it’s one of the liveliest places on the planet. Its lusciousness and simplicity is what makes it so beautiful. Some say deserts are just dry and mysterious places, but in Tucson, Arizona, it’s quite the contrary. The sprawling desert seems to have its own rules, everything from the wildlife to the greens have their own stories.
As the chair is moved to its new destination it grinds to a halt, not knowing where but only knowing that it will stop, eventually. Not a comfortable way to see nature, but it will do. The screeching of the chair seems to have bothered nature in more ways than one. Sitting, waiting for nature to respond, it sits idle, waiting for a reason to answer back. The zapping sounds in unison while the bee zips and zooms around, acting as an interpreter for nature. The bee answers not with whispers, but with sounds, BOOMING, fighting for the airwaves with the passing Jet. Out of the blue the trees seem to have stopped swaying and the bees seem to have stopped buzzing. Almost as if nature has taken notice of outside disruptions. As the chair is made stationary, natures sound has prevailed over its competitor, the trees and bees have continued their routines. Not a minute too soon and not a minute too late, nature has gotten back on course. As time slows, it waits for the green light to resume like a motorist in traffic.
Mid afternoon and nature is calm, the winds have died down and the bees have had their fill, it is time to head home, the calmness will soon be replaced by destruction and turmoil. In the distance, you can see it, the Devils storm. It approaches with erratic behavior; the Devil itself knows not of its course. Nature guides it along the path of the towering cacti like a puppeteer and his marionettes. The animals can sense the impending danger; they gather what they can in hopes of living through the storm. The creatures scurry to find their homes. They wait patiently, hoping nothing comes of harm. The Devil strikes. As it ravages anything in its path you can only sense the despair that has fallen over the area, not knowing if the animals are okay. The Devil passes. The puppet master has spared the animals that live on his path.
