  1. Legend of The Nomads

“Gather ‘round children, for there is a tale of telling you must all hear. A tale about the ancient Nomads that had roamed these lands before us. A tale of the forsaken foes they overcame in the struggle for survival. Listen children, for there is a tale of telling you must hear…”

Ugh, thought Nora, We have been moving for days…why haven’t we stopped for a rest.. Nora continued along the dirt path carrying her sack of supplies. She had long red hair, and sharp green eyes. Her figure was one that made the other men woo at the sight of her. She was beautiful no doubt. Many man compared her to the God’s lights in the sky. She was a rare sight, one that you wanted to keep forever. Nora continued to trudge along the path with the rest of the tribe. For it was migration season, and they mustn’t be in the same fields too long. Their live stock would not be able to survive the winters.
As Nora was lost in her thoughts, she didn’t come to realize the line had stopped, and she bumped into the man in front of her.

“Oof! Sorry..”, muttered Nora. The man turned and smiled a great grin.
“NORA!”, yelled Herbet. Nora rolled her eyes in disgust. Of all the people in the line it had to be Herbet. Herbet stood there smiling dearly at Nora, a spot of drool could be seen at the edge of his mouth. Herbet was a husky man. Standing almost two and a half meters tall, and had quite the build. He also had an obsession with Nora, he followed her like a lost puppy. Even sang dandy songs about her when he was drunk!

The children giggle and smile. They stare at the old man with large eyes waiting for him to continue. Mothers and fathers stood behind watching eagerly as their kids bounced and laughed with excitement. “ OHHHH SHE WAS A BEAUTY, IF ONLY SHE WAS, IN LOVE WITH MEEEE”, sang the old man. The children and their parents laughed some more…

Nora cleared her throat and pretended that she didn’t hear Herbet. She looked past him and up the line, noticing people looked like they were getting uneasy. She was beginning to sense something was wrong…What is going on? It is almost dark and we haven’t found any shelter here!. Suddenly there was a monstrous roar!

The old man jumped to his feet screaming, “ ROOOAAAAR!”, at the top of his lungs. The children jumped back and shrieked. Some stood their ground and tried too roar back. Mothers and Fathers laughed and talked amongst themselves, a street vendor sets up his stand nearby and begins advertising for delicious deserts…

Nora and Herbet looked around quickly in fear. They recognized that roar, everyone in the regen did. It was a Warbeast! No doubt about it! Nora glanced quickly too her left and screamed. Herbet looks at Nora confused, then suddenly awed, then confused again and turns to his right. A monstrous blue Warbeast was running straight for them. Nora screamed again and began to run. She heard horns being blown as the signal of retreat. Nora glanced behind he and noticed men in arms charging towards the beast, even Herbet was going after it. "Idiot, he doesn’t even know how to hold a bow", she muttered under her breath. She continued to run towards a soldier waving a golden flag. The rendezvous point!, she sprinted across the field hearing bellows and men crying out in pain behind her.

The old man moved the puppets around like waves in the sea, up and down, back and forth. The children watched in awe. One girl gasped as the old man pretended to spear a man with the Warbeasts’ tusks. He smiled softly and quickly switched to another puppet. This one was Herbet..

Herbet picked up a fallen spear and lunged it deep into the side of the Warbeast. It reared up on its hind legs and broke the spear in half.

“Keep it occupied! Keep the party safe!”, yelled an officer
“Sir!”, yelled another soldier, “ I have made it ble-“
Before he could finish his sentence, the beast had knocked him onto his back and crushed him flat with it’s enormous hooves. Herbet had been in battles before, but he has never actually seen anyone die. He froze momentarily and without Meirry, he would’ve been stabbed by the razor sharp tusks.

The old man made elephant noises and pretend to battle it out on the ground in front of him. The children were now yelling for Herbet to save the day. one boy picked up a small twig and held it out too the doll. This caught the old man by surprise and he warningly took the branch and broke it in half. Now it was the boys turn to be surprised. Parents look shocked and gasped. The old man held up one finger and reached behind him. When his hand returned, it was filled with string and a razor. He winked at the child…

Herbet hit the ground as the tusks grazed inches of where he last stood. Meirry gave him a quick nod and got back on his feet and into the fight. Herbet lay in the mud looking for a weapon. aha! A sword! He crawled as fast as he could and grabbed the sword in his hand. He bolted straight up onto his feet, which was something that shouldn’t be done in a battle as such. Herbet held his sword above his head and gleamed. “I FOUND A SWORD!”, he yelled. Several soldiers turned confused and bewildered. One cried out and pointed at the space above him. He look at that soldier with a questioning look, Maybe he is just jealous I have a sword and he has a bow?. THUMP Herbet was covered in purple blood and now had a severed snout at his feet. He had unintentionally gotten up and cut the Warbeast in the face!

Nora had arrived at the rendezvous only to find no one there. Odd, where was the soldier with the golden flag? The rendezvous area was located in a smaller crevace between two large rocks on the field. It had one narrow entrance and provide great shelter against threats and the elements. Nora now entered the crevice only to see nothing. No camps, men, women, or children. Only grass and weeds. Something is definitely not right.. Nora thought to her self. She began to feel uneasy. Suddenly, the air stopped, and it was dead silent. Nora froze in her place and tried to listen for any sounds. Nothing.

The old man moved very slowly, and spoke in a hushed whisper. Children leaned closer to try and hear the old man…

Nora was now convinced that something was at stake here. Quickly she turned on her heels to run back the way she came. Instead of seeing the plains, there were 2 red eyes staring back at her. The next thing she knew, she had fallen on the floor and was staring at the severed head of the soldier, hidden behind a rock, when the world went black...
