Noobius' Guide to OSF-ing -Preface- Salutations! For those of you who don't know me, I am Noobius and I was an OSF for KaW Mafia Reborn. I was a OSF for about three months; which isn't a long time really, but I learnt from the best. I'm putting this guide together for all you OSFs, wannabe OSFs, or just people interested in OSF mechanics. It's okay, I have my troll block on. Noobius -Editor's Note- This is Ghoomba's Guide, remade with my style of BB Coding. Edits consist of; rephrases, spelling corrections, grammar, add-ons. And BB Coding, of course. I asked for his permission to host the guide, since he had issues editting his own. View the original version here. ♦Abyssus♦ Q: What is an OSF, and what does it stand for? Open Secret Farm OSFs originated way back in the beginnings of KaW. A few people just decided to allow free hits I guess. They started up an organization; like a business almost, of OSFs openings for an allowed five hits per player per day. They used attack builds to farm the people who broke the rules and betrayed the OSF's generosity (This is where the 5 hit courtesy rule we have today comes from by the way). OSFs are pure spy builds, this is so that all players can beat them and earn. They "open" (will be explained later) and allow their clan members (sometimes the WC) to unload their troops on them [the OSF]. Most of the time, this occurs in a... Plunder Wars Q: What is "opening" and how do OSFs do it? OSFs buy a large quantity of pots (potions from marketplace). Usually they buy the cheapest the one available, which is the first spy defence potion called: Mist of Confusion It costs 1,250k each pot. A OSF drops (fancy word for sells) one pot at a time. This gives them 937 gold. A player continually attacks them, taking the 937 gold while the OSF continually drops more pots putting out more money. This is a cheap method of staying "open"; open meaning the state of being hittable. If the OSF has no gold out, the attacker will get the message, "Defender is Too Weak" (DTW). This simply means that the OSF can't be hit because their "bank" is empty. OSFs can't be hit while empty because they have no troops to attack. OSFs can also buy the last spy defence pot which costs 6M each. Dropping these yields a 4.5M money return. 75% x 6M = 4.5M Mostly, when OSFs do this, they drop large quantities of this pot at a time such as, 100, 250, or even 500. This allows them to stay open without having to repeatedly sell pots, because they have more money out at a time. However, they lose more per attack. Instead of losing 937 gold per attack, they can lose up to 2M gold per attack. "Bulk dropping" ( dropping the 6M pot in bulk quantity) is not as cost efficient and only lazy or busy osfs generally do this. Opening on a computer is easier because you can click sell and then just keep clicking the space-bar and clicking. Most OSFs use a computer account. However, some OSFs, like myself, use an iPod. This puts you at a disadvantage because you must wait for the "Loading..." after you sell each pot. This makes dropping pots painstakingly slow, and you will likely get complaints from your attackers. Tips for conserving money while bulk dropping. Keeping your spies low while having large amounts of money out keeps it going down slower because the enemy has to use less troops to win. Less troops used = Less plunder taken. You have to be careful not to go below 20% troops or you'll go DTW. Aim for 25-30% and find an oaf who is willing to let you keep wasting spies on him/her. Q: How do OSFs make money by giving it away? OSFs make money by joining in on Plunder Wars or PWs. You may have heard negative things about PWs. How they're ruining KaW and should be stopped. This isn't a debate thread, so I won't voice my opinion, I'll let you decide. Q: What are Plunder Wars and how do OSFs gain from them? (Reverse) Plunder Wars are when you have a war between two clans, much like a regular war. Except, one side is consistently the attacking/winning side and the other side is made out of the OSF(s). The OSFs open for the attacking side, allowing them to farm them. Every amount made in a war is subjected to a 20% tax, and it's added to the "Plunder Pot". After the war tax builds up to high levels, the attacking side eventually forfeits the war before it ends; surrendering to the OSF(s). Why might they do this? In return for letting the attackers farm them for two days straight, the OSFs get all the war tax that the attackers made during the 48hours. Usually, the OSFs make more than the attackers! It's a long and tedious two days, but if you can handle it, you'll be swimming in cash! Q: Why do OSFs need to be pure spies? If OSFs had troop buildings, they would go DTW from falling below 20% troops after ~20 hits. It defeats the purpose of pots. Q: Why do attackers make more money from certain OSFs? It's not the OSF that is different, it's all in the stats. The higher the OSF's spy stats (highest being ~1.55m/1.55m) are, the more money people make from hitting them. The OSF's stats aren't the only thing that matters though! Also, if the opponent is smaller than the OSF, he makes a larger sum of gold because it was a "harder fought battle" or some crap like that whereas the bigger attacker would make less because of the "bully factor". But that's still not it! You're probably thinking to yourself, "Oh gosh, what else could there possibly be?! He must be joking!" Well, sucks for you because I'm not joking... You may or may not have heard of Max Ally Plunder (MAP). When you hire allies they "aid" you in combat and make you a hefty sum of gold per hit. The amount of AP (Ally Plunder) you get is based on the allies' total values, not their stats like some people would think. So, get some high spy stats and attackers a little smaller than you with MAP, and you're ready for some money! -Afterword- As far as I can see from looking over it, I don't think I'm missing anything. Should you have any other questions regarding OSFing or OSFs, please feel free to ask me or Abyssus or any local, experienced player. Thank you for your time. I hope it was helpful, because it took a very long time to write! Noobius

Reverse Plunder War (what everyone calls a pwar now) All the OSFs join one clan with everyone attacking them. The war is forfeited to the OSF clan. Plunder War (rarely done) It's carried out the same way as a Reverse Plunder War but there is no forfeit. Real Plunder War (the old way to do it) OSFs trade sides with each other's clans and each clan attacks OSFs on the other side to see who can get the most plunder. Obviously, the winners gets all the tax. But it's not much plunder for an OSF, thus it faded in popularity. Friendly System War Two clans come to terms for a war and duke it out for fun to see who is the best at it. All done by a declaration and a 48 hour war. Friendly Out of System War The same as a system war but no plunder earnings. Just bragging rights. Dirty System War Declaring war on a clan in retaliation for something. There is usually stripping or tactics involved. Sometimes, it's leveraging the plunder as a win point and controlling how much the other teams gets. Dirty War (out of system war, strip war, righteous war...) Once the most common wars in KaW. The one I personally know best and prefer. It's when two or more clans starting farming one another. There is almost always stripping. Pls add any others I forgot. I know there are a few more. Credits to: CiviIized_AnArChlsT Revised by: Abyssus
